Frequently Asked Questions
What is sclerotherapy and why should I learn how to do sclerotherapy in aesthetics?
Sclerotherapy is a minimally invasive treatment used to improve the appearance of spider veins and small varicose veins. By injecting a specialized solution directly into targeted veins, the procedure causes them to collapse and fade over time, leading to smoother, clearer skin. It’s a low-downtime option that has been trusted in both medical and cosmetic settings for decades.
For aesthetics professionals, mastering sclerotherapy expands your service offerings and creates a valuable revenue stream. Clients increasingly seek comprehensive care for visible veins alongside other treatments like neurotoxin or filler, making this skill a perfect complement to your practice. Learning sclerotherapy not only differentiates you in a competitive market but also enhances your ability to meet a broader range of patient goals safely and effectively.
Sclerotherapy vs. Laser: What is the difference when it comes to treating cosmetic veins?
Sclerotherapy
Licensed healthcare professionals, such as such as physicians (MD, DO), nurse practitioners (NP), physician assistants (PA), and registered nurses (RN), are permitted to perform sclerotherapy in Colorado. This may vary state to state. These professionals should have an active license to practice in Colorado and ideally already work in medical aesthetics, dermatology, vascular medicine, or a related specialty where sclerotherapy would complement their current skills and expand their service offerings.
Laser Therapy
Cosmetic vein treatment via laser therapy can be treated by any certified technician, aesthetician, physician, or nurse who wants to learn the basics of cosmetic vein laser aesthetics.
Will I receive certification upon completion?
Yes! Upon successful completion of the course, you’ll receive a certificate one education that may allow you to begin practicing or further your training, depending on your location and professional qualifications.
Do I have to provide my own models and products?
No! We provide all hands-on models and products for use during your course. Your course fee and any travel expenses are the only costs associated with the course.
Who is a good candidate for the Spider Vein Cosmetics Course?
This program is for any physician, nurse, aesthetician, or technician who is actively involved in treating spider veins.
For best results, patients should be treated by a practice with all modalities: medical/surgical ablations, sclerotherapy, and cosmetic lasers. Most practitioners, however, only have one of these three tools in their toolbox.
This course is meant to teach you about all three: how they work together and when you should refer the patient out for the proper tool and skill set.
If you’re a medical professional, or you’re interested in entering the aesthetics field as a medical professional, this course could be ideal. For someone looking to start a cosmetic practice: comprehensive spider vein care is a rare entity. And unlike many of the other aesthetic procedures, you can become profitable in under ten patients.
Many nonphysicians who are already working in medical offices take the course to gain all the academic training they need and then receive hands-on training from the medical staff in their offices.
This course was designed to benefit anyone who treats spider veins: Physicians, Nurses, Physician Assistants, Nurse Pracitioners, Aestheticians and Laser Technicians. Even non-clinical business managers can glean important insights about supply chain, ROI and how to purchase lasers.
Will I be able to perform sclerotherapy and laser treatments after this course?
Sclerotherapy is generally performed by Physicians, Nurses and APPs. It would not be appropriate for Aestheticians or Laser techs. However, understanding how the tools work together is important information for anyone treating spider veins.
Laser therapy is often performed by both medical professionals and licensed allied health professionals.
Individual state medical boards govern medical treatments, including laser and other light-based treatments, as they see fit. Some states have specific requirements, while others don’t. Check with your state medical board before taking the course to find out whether this program can benefit you in your current or planned role.
